    Yankees Yanks Sign Mark Bellhorn

    http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/4820784

Red Sox hero to become a Yankee

    Ken Rosenthal / FOXSports.com

Mark Bellhorn, one of the heroes of the Red Sox's 2004 postseason run, will join the rival Yankees once he clears waivers at 1 p.m. Tuesday, FOXSports.com has learned.

Bellhorn, a switch-hitter, will give the Yankees infield depth and a left-handed bat off the bench. The Yankees currently are without backup infielder Rey Sanchez, who has been on the disabled list since June 10 with a bulging disk in his neck, and designated hitter Ruben Sierra, who has been on the D.L. since July 20 with a hamstring injury.
Bellhorn, 31, batted only .216 with seven homers and 28 RBIs before the Red Sox released him on Saturday, striking out 109 times in 283 at-bats. He had a career year for the Sox last season, posting a .817 on-base/slugging percentage with 17 homers and 82 RBIs.

After going 1-for-14 in the first four games of the American League Championship Series against the Yankees, he went 4-for-12 in the final three games, including home runs in Games 6 and 7.

He also hit the game-winning homer in Game 1 of the World Series, breaking a 9-9 tie with a two-run shot in the eighth inning off the Cardinals' Julian Tavarez.

I know what he was thinking:

    WIN METHOD...obviously
I did a lot of good things as a sim league GM.

Ah, give me something clever to say here.

Good get. Bellhorn could fill in pretty nicely for Robinson Cano, who is clearly not a good player. If not starting, he is fairly versatile off the bench.

I hope all of the egos that we are loading up on don't get bruised with sitting in the shadows away from the spotlight on the bench.

I'll admit I was wrong about Chacon, who's pitched better than I would have imagined.

Now how well is Cano playing now?

    I believe he's in an 8 for 50 slump.

Circular logic aside, Mr Mims, you have yet to provide a single credible reason why you are, in fact, hot.

    It's official:

    http://newyork.yankees.mlb.com/NASAp...=.jsp&c_id=nyy

Tuesday, he'll be a member of the Yankees, doing his best to end Boston's one-year reign as champions of baseball.

Bellhorn will sign with the Yankees on Tuesday, giving New York another veteran infielder for the stretch run.

When reached on his cell phone on Monday evening, Bellhorn confirmed the move to MLB.com. A Yankees official also confirmed the move on the condition of anonymity.

Several published reports had indicated that Bellhorn would sign with the Oakland A's, but he decided in the end to remain in the American League East, as he knows some players and coaches on the Yankees.

"The Yankees seemed interested," said Bellhorn, speaking from the airport in Phoenix, on his way to Seattle, where he will sign a contract on Tuesday. "The Yankees are one of the most well-known franchises in all of sports. Not everybody gets to play for them."

Maybe joek had a Theo Epstein moment, since Bellhorn would never be signed without being WIN METHOD.
