That was his problem for taking that foolish, meaningless tournament seriously. Matsuzaka pitched 21.2 in 5 starts this spring, Wang pitched 21.2 in 6 starts. They both suck right now, no excuses.
Let's look at the numbers a bit more here guys since it is rare that we can see bottom line statistics this bad extending past the first couple starts:
23 hits in 6 IP (a .622 BA against)
6 BB's to 2 SO's
A G/F ratio almost 1/3 of what he had in his big 2006 season (2009 G/F .57, 2006 G/F 1.76)
9 2B's, only 10 less than what he gave up in 89 more innings last season
31 P/IP (2x as many as his previous career high in that category)
