Pitching in an extended spring training game in Tampa on Thursday, Chien-Ming Wang averaged close to 91 mph with his fastball and struck out 11 batters without issuing a walk.
Wang also threw 70 out of 91 pitches for strikes, but Peter Abraham of the Journal News believes that the Yankees will place him on the DL anyway. If that occurs, Phil Hughes (3-0 with a 1.86 ERA at Triple-A Scranton) could get the call to start on Tuesday

I say bring up Hughes and Let Wang continue to work on his mechanics.

A part of me said it's a fluke, another part said yes something is wrong.

If Wang is DL'ed, I really hope the Yankees give him a start or two in AAA prior to his callup to let him restore his confidence. Getting rocked like he did could be something that would take a long time to recover from if he is taking the mound in an MLB stadium doubting himself.
