CC Sabathia won't make his first start of the spring until the Yankees play their 10th game, but the big lefthander is lined up perfectly to make a much more important start: Opening Day.
Sabathia will make his spring debut on March 6 at Steinbrenner Field against the Tigers, as Joe Girardi will hold his regular starters out of the first week of games since spring training is a week longer than usual this season because of the World Baseball Classic.
That lines up Sabathia to pitch on April 6, when the Yankees open their season at Camden Yards against the Orioles.
