Sweet.
Sweet.
I did a lot of good things as a sim league GM.
Ah, give me something clever to say here.
I put this in Reefer's post but I'll put it here too. I'm incredibly worried about his injury history. But I think a 2-year deal is fine. However, I think someone else will stupidly offer him more years, and to someone with a history like Sheet's, he's gonna value years the most. Sheets will not sign with the Yankees.
This is a good deal for the Yankees. Sheets on two years isn't blocking anyone and shows the Yankees are cautious with his health. The Yankees can outspend anyone for Sheets in terms of money. If I am Sheets, I take the deal and hope I get back on track to get another payday in two years.
I would like to think they learned their lesson from the Pavano deal. If Sheets wants more years but less money per year, then I am sure the Yankees will be fine letting him go.
I don't want Ben Sheets.

I would take a two year risk on Sheets. He did get to almost 200 innings last year with a 3.09 ERA. They shut him down before any damage was done which is somewhat of a good thing.
They really should get Sheets now. Brewer Aces all around!
Marshall: MILSWANCAs?
Ted: Wait, I can get this. Mothers I'd like to sleep with and never call again.
Barney: Circle gets the square!

Sheets has pitched well the last couple of years and may be a good investment.
I've changed my mind a bit here...
If the Yankees sign Burnett (which appears likely at this point) - I think a 2 year deal for Sheets would be well worth it. They're not signing Burnett AND Lowe, and I would like another SP with Burnett because of his injury problems. Now Sheets has his share too, but you figure you can get enough starts between the two of them, with guys like Hughes, Kennedy, Aceves filling in when needed. Plus the thought of this rotation:
CC Sabathia - Chien-Ming Wang - AJ Burnett - Ben Sheets - Joba Chamberlain
Is almost sickening.

who will be the next sp there going to offer a contract? Looks like Hughes and chamberlain are going to be out of the starting pitching rotation.
Possible Yankee Rotation.
1. CC
2. Hughes or Chamberlain (one or both could go to the pen or AAA)
3. Burnett
4. Sheets
5. Wang
If they are able to get Burnett and Sheets to sign they have one hell of a rotation.

50 million a year + payroll possibility on the rotation all by itself. If I was ARod I would be getting to my agent asking for a pay raise. With the economy sucking ass and jobs being cut how can the Yankees keep spending money like they do?

This is one of those times where the rest of the league starts to hate on the Yanks. Signing this many players, spending this type of money.
In all honesty though, hate this deal. I'd take Kennedy/Hughes at the lower rotation spot any day of the year.
