ESPN - New York Yankees pitcher Mike Mussina decides to retire

I liked Moose, but you have to wonder how successful he would have continued to be at his old baseball age.

Mussina did the smart thing and is on his way to the Hall of Fame.

A little late to the party, but I agree with Jim here. I knew Moose had a good season and all, but I had no idea how good he was. Truthfully, I figured he must have been slipping in the second half to want to retire, but his second half was actually better than his first and he posted a +8 K/9 during that stretch. He went out like a champ for sure and his decision to retire, therefore not placing the Yankees in a position of feeling forced to sign him to a two or three year deal that he would maybe not earn, allowed (or certainly help) getting with bringing CC to the Big Apple.
