This is something I just realized tonight. Here's why the Yankees aren't the dominant team they should be, at least offensively:
They aren't a team. The players all get hits and home runs and stuff, but they're never when the team needs it. They can never put anything together.
That's where Nady comes in. He gets the numbers, but he's not a hugely known player. He gets his hits when the team needs him. Think 8th inning solo HR to tie the game last night against the Rangers. Think AL player of the week in his first week with the Yankees. He's a team player. And he's exactly what the team needs. A-Rod and Jeter and Cano could learn a thing or two from him.
I don't have really anything to back this up. Feel free to disagree with me. But this is what I've seen this year and the past 1 or 2 years. It's just a feeling, a hunch. But it's very strong. I hope the Yankees keep Nady for next year and maybe beyond. Cashman should sign him to an extension.
