Yankees Make a Roster Move

The Yankees optioned Shelly Duncan to AAA Scranton/Wilkes-Barre in order to recall SS Alberto Gonzalez. The Yankees say they need a shortstop to replace Jeter who will be out for a few more games.

I say this is a retarded move because Duncan needs to get major league at-bats in order to get better, and I think if he gets those at-bats he can be a very good player. The Yanks have Wilson Betemit who can play shortstop, and A-Rod can move over if Betemit inexplicibly goes down. The Yankees now have Morgan Ensberg playing against lefties at 1st Base, and he just struck out with runners on 1st and 2nd against the Royals.

How is this a "retarded" move?...they need another guy to play SS while Jeter is out for a couple days. Duncan wasn't playing much anyway, and he'll be back soon enough.

because Betemit can play SS, or he can play 3B while A-Rod plays short.

I actually kinda agree. Duncan is more of a threat off the bench, while Betemit and A-Rod can handle 3B and SS in whatever positioning you want.
