Yankees New York Yankees 2006 AL East Champions

For the 9th consecutive year the Yankees are AL Est Champs, they lost last night to Toronto but w/ the magic # at 1 Boston also lost and the celebration was in the Locker Room. Hopefully it was the first of 4 celebrations.

    New york, new york

Start spreading the news, Im leaving today
I want to be a part of it - new york, new york
These vagabond shoes, are longing to stray
Right through the very heart of it - new york, new york

I wanna wake up in a city, that doesnt sleep
And find Im king of the hill - top of the heap

These little town blues, are melting away
Ill make a brand new start of it - in old new york
If I can make it there, Ill make it anywhere
Its up to you - new york, new york

    New york, new york
I want to wake up in a city, that never sleeps
And find Im a number one top of the list, king of the hill
    A number one

These little town blues, are melting away
Im gonna make a brand new start of it - in old new york
And if I can make it there, Im gonna make it anywhere

It up to you - new york new york

That being said, is it possible that the Yankees LDS lineup look like this?

    CF Damon
    SS Jeter
    RF Abreu
    3B Rodriguez
    DH Giambi
    1B Sheffield
    C Posada
    2B Cano
    LF Matsui

Who wouldn't want Matsui as your #9 hitter, that'd be sick.

I think Matsui/Cano will be flip-flopped from what you got there. Otherwise i agree.

hasn't Torre been having Cano hit 7 and Matsui 8? With Sheffield returning, I'd assume he'd just bump them down

Congratulations to the Yankees on winning another divisional title.
They have played through a really tough season, injury-wise. Sheff, Matsui, Rivera, Cano all have missed significant time. ARod has not had his typical season. The only constants have been Posada, Jeter and Giambi (he's actually played decent defense at 1B). Bernie Williams has quietly had one of his better seasons. They got production from Melke Cabrera that was not really expected, at least by some causal fans.

The only problem is Matsui has to play LF and he is not a good fielder, we lose alot w/o Melky out there.

People give Matsui a lot of grief for his defense, but seriously he is not that bad, at the very worst he is a solid defender. Granted Melky has made himself into a pretty stellar defender, but with Matsui you have an average fielder and a great hitter replacing a great fielder and a solid hitter.

he is that bad, he was actually pretty good when he first came here but each year his D deteriorated culminating w/ his atrocious 2005. I have never seen an OF drop more balls than Hideki.
