Mets sign Wright to an extension:

NEW YORK -- David Wright became the latest young player on the New York Mets to get a longterm contract, signing a $55 million, six-year extension Sunday.
looks like Omar is locking up his young players...

Mets designated RHP Anderson Garcia for assignment.
This clears a spot for Ricky Ledee on the 40-man roster. Eli Marrero is expected to be bumped from the 25-man roster when Ledee reports. Garcia spent a couple of days with the Mets in May, but he didn't get into a game. He had a 6.32 ERA in 20 appearances for Triple-A Norfolk.

Tom Glavine pitched a fine gamesx\ Wednesday, but suffered his sixth loss of the season.
Glavine limited the Phils to six hits and three runs in seven innings in throwing his third straight quality start. But he's just 1-2 over that stretch as the Mets have managed just one run in his past two starts.

Steve Trachsel limited the Rockies to three runs in seven innings to record his 12th win of the season on Friday.
Trachsel struck out six and walked three while needing 106 pitches to complete the seven innings. The win was Trachsel's 11th in his last 12 decisions despite seeing his ERA rise from 4.67 to 4.79 during that span. He's still not a good play against the Cardinals next time out.

The Mets also got Guillermo Mota from the Indians for a player to be named later.

Mets transferred catcher Ramon Castro from the 15-day to the 60-day disabled list.
Castro will be eligible to return for the last week of the season, but that's about it. The Mets probably wouldn't have taken this step if they expected him to return from knee surgery this year.

Carlos Delgado went 2-for-3 with a double, two RBI and a walk Monday against the Phillies.
The red-hot Delgado was hitting just .221 against southpaws this season, but he's always owned Jamie Moyer. He's driven in 26 runs in his last 26 games.

Left-hander Jon Niese made his debut for Single-A St. Lucie on Monday and allowed three runs -- one earned -- in five innings.
Niese, a 2005 seventh-round pick, was 11-9 with a 3.93 ERA, 121 H and 132/62 K/BB in 123 2/3 IP for low Single-A Hagerstown. He might be getting lost behind Mike Pelfrey, Philip Humber and Deolis Guerra, but he's a fine pitching prospect.

And it would seem David Wright is back on track, what with 8 RBI's in his last two games including a grand slam and all. It's a good sign, I felt bad for him struggling like that. He's already one of my favorite players, and the mets are one helluva team.

David Wright hit a grand slam to help propel the Mets past the Rockies 11-3 on Wednesday.
Wright was 2-for-5 and drove in a season-high five runs giving him 10 RBI in the past three games and 101 for the year. Wright, now batting .299, needs just one more RBI to match his career best set last season.

Pedro Martinez (calf) threw 38 pitches off a mound on Saturday.
Martinez will have a few more bullpen sessions before throwing a simulated game next week. He is expected to return in mid-September.

Oliver Perez will remain in the rotation and start Wednesday's game.
By giving Perez one more start the Mets give Tom Glavine an extra day between starts. Perez, who gave up seven runs in just over three innings on Thursday, isn't an option in any fantasy league.
