if the home team is losing, they have to have an equal amount of opportunities, or it reverts back to the previous inning. obviously if they were losing the previous inning, then theyd still lose... but since in this case, the padres took the odd numbered chance, it reverts back to the 8th, where the mets were up 7-5.

I didn't specifically cite the rule, but that's what I was talking about, the game would go back to the point of equality for both teams. There have been tons of rain delays that probably should have been under the rule, but's it's rarely implemented.
the funny thing is, the amount of mets fans [not particularly lj] bitching incessantly that the game shouldnt have been stopped with 2 outs in the 9th and an 0-1 count on norris, makes this kinda funny to me. not overly hilarious or anything, since i actually like some of those said met fans... my mom mainly... but still kinda funny.
The thing that's weird to me is that they paused it two strikes away and then resumed knowing they only had a five minute window. It's just odd.
