    Report: Mets Sign Juan Lagares to 4-Year Extension

    According to Yahoo, the Mets are close on a 4/$23 million extension with arguably the best defensive CF in baseball, Juan Lagares. If this deal is officially signed, and if Lagares improves offensively even marginally, it's a bargain. Nice to see the Mets doing smart things.

    Defense is overrated. It wasn't that long ago that Endy Chavez was the best defensive CF in baseball.

    I know you're trolling, but I'll bite anyway:

    Endy, who I love, played just two full years as a CF, at which time Andruw Jones and Torii Hunter were miles ahead of him for best defensive CF in baseball.
