Mets Murphy done for the year

Daniel Murphy suffered a Grade 2 tear of the medial collateral ligament in his left knee during Sunday's game, according to ESPN New York.
He is done for the season. Murphy doesn't need surgery, but he will have a four-month recovery period. Murphy strained the MCL in his right knee last season and rehabbed the injury. Nick Evans should be in line for at-bats at first with Murphy and Ike Davis both out for the year. It's a disappointing end to a nice season for Murphy, who hit .320/.362/.448 over 391 at-bats.
Murphy has been one of the few bright spots for the Mets and now the Mets have another reason not to go to the games. I wonder if he should just go ahead and have surgery to fix it. Two years in a row with MCL problems doesn't sound good for someone who is only 26. I say have the surgery and be ready for '12 and beyond.
