According to Kevin Burkhardt of SNY, the Mets have signed Taylor Buchholz to a one-year contract.
Another low-risk signing for the Mets. In his first season back from Tommy John surgery, Buchholz posted a 5.06 ERA and 16/9 K/BB ratio in the minor leagues and a 3.75 ERA and 9/6 K/BB ratio over 12 innings between the Rockies and Blue Jays. He's still only 29 years old, so there's still plenty of time to see whether he can bounce back to his 2008 levels.
According to Kevin Burkhardt of SNY, the Mets have signed Chris Capuano to a one-year contract.
The Mets were expected to add some low-cost alternatives for the back end of their starting rotation and Capuano certainly qualifies. The 32-year-old left-hander returned from a second Tommy John surgery to post a 3.95 ERA and 54/21 K/BB ratio over 66 innings with the Brewers last season. Without hearing the terms, it's a nice gamble.
