The Mets have announced that infielder Alex Cora will have season-ending surgery on the torn ligaments in both of his thumbs. Cora was on the disabled list earlier in the season with the same injury, which forced him to play with a splint when he returned.
Cora re-aggravated the thumb in late July.

I just wonder if Cora should have had these surgeries earlier...if he simply tried to play through it all knowing we had already lost Reyes...

The Mets have activated Billy Wagner from the 60 day disabled list.


To make room for Wagner, the Mets have released Livan Hernandez.
