Well, Trent's update says that Arroyo is going on Thursday.

UPDATE (11:03 a.m.): Players are out in the rain throwing right now. There's been reports of snow flakes coming down. I haven't seen 'em yet.

So, talked to Bronson Arroyo who said he threw 40 pitches in his bullpen and felt great. He still hopes to throw on Thursday.

He said the 40 pitches was a bit more than he'd usually throw this far out, but he thew a few more "just to let them know I'm not full of (it) when I said I'm good to go."

After the swelling from the cortisone went down, Arroyo said his arm felt great. He compared what he was doing before to shooting free throws with a glove on, you can do the action, but you have no touch.

Bullpen coach Porky Lopez caught his session.

Micah Owings also said he hasn't been told he'd start on Thursday for Arroyo.

* Willy Taveras said he feels "a lot better." He had been sidelined with the flu, but said he'd be available if needed today.

The biggest thing out of that is now Arroyo will pitch Thursday

The guy everyone says is the biggest difference on this team this year is Alex Gonzalez.

Jay Bruce called his play in right field in 2008 a "debacle."

Joey Votto on the weather -- "we play hockey in this weather, not baseball."

Brandon Phillips called Gonzalez the best shortstop he's played with (which includes Omar Vizquel) and said Gonzalez is "a teacher"

Arroyo got pushed back out of this series so his hand/arm have time to rest and recover from Carpal Tunnel syndrome he's been dealing with. Thats why Its Owings on the mound. Although if this is the "offense" we can come to expect out of Duhhsty I dont think it matter if we could run Jose Rijo circa 1990, Tom Seaver circa 1977, and Tom Browning circa 1989 and it wouldnt matter.

Pretty much. The Mets didn't score much today, but that was due to the grit of Harang more than anything. Looking at them compared to the Reds just showed how sad the lineup construction was today.

I do feel good about Volquez in game two. Volquez posted some absolutely dominating stats this spring.

I'm not so sure the failure of the Mets' offense was all Harang's grit. Not to discredit his effort, but the Mets have a history(both the individual players and the team in recent years) of failing to drive in runners. I believe the Mets were 1 for 12 with RISP. That's terrible. If the Mets want to win, they cannot do that on a daily basis.

Combination of both then creating a perfect storm. Harang, before he became the guy who was mentioned in NL Cy Young talks, really opened eyes in Cincy as he was just able to come through in jams more often than not.

The Mets definitely should have scored more today, especially with the Reds' fielding mistakes, so it wasn't all Harang.
