Mets @ Oak
Headed west, and they need to break out of this slump. THe bats really need to wake up. Look out for Cliff FLoyd whose been on fire. 10:05 EST tonight.
The Mets open a 12-game road trip Tuesday night with the first of a three-game series against the A's. The Mets enter the game looking to regain the momentum lost by dropping consecutive series for the first time since losing to the Yankees and Braves on May 20-25.
Tom Glavine pitches for the Mets, with a chance to even his record for the first time since it was 0-0. Glavine is 3-1 with a 2.45 ERA in his last six starts. Tuesday's game will mark Glavine's first career start against the A's.
He is opposed by Joe Blanton, who has started the season 1-6. Blanton has allowed four runs or more in six of his 12 starts thus far and is being pounded by right-handed batters, who are hitting .333 against him. He has compiled a 7.20 ERA in five starts at home.
The Mets' bats have cooled off recently -- the offense hasn't scored more than three runs in six of the past eight games. The Mets have lost five of those, dropping the team's record to 8-23 when it scores three runs or less.
