Mets vs Houston 6/8
Mets won a great game last night. Pedro was excellent as always, but had a no-no through 6 1/3 innings/ Houston absolutely is terrible on the road so we can expect a win tonight.
Zambrano vs Backe
Zambrano pitched brilliantly last week against the DBacks.
The Mets play the middle game of a three-game set with the Houston Astros on Wednesday at 7:10 p.m. ET. With a victory, the Mets can win their fourth consecutive series.
Victor Zambrano will take the mound looking to build on momentum gained during his last start, when the righty allowed one run in eight-plus innings to earn a victory against the Diamondbacks. It was Zambrano's longest outing of the season.
Houston counters with Brandon Backe, who has won three of his last four starts. Backe is 1-3 with a 6.14 ERA in six road starts. No. 2 hitters are hitting .441 against the right-hander, which bodes well for Mike Cameron, who is hitting .346.
Jose Reyes has been a major catalyst for the Mets' offense during the homestand. During the eight-game stretch, the shortstop has rapped four doubles, stolen five bases and compiled a .387 average.
