Former Marlin Chris Aguila is headed to New York, Surfing the Mets has learned. He’ll replace Abraham Nunez, who was designated for assignment after Tuesday night’s game.
Aguila (above r.) has been on a longball tear at Triple-A New Orleans. The 29-year-old outfielder, who was hitting .308 with 17 homers and 40 RBI as a Zephyr in 221 at-bats, has slugged eight homers in his last 11 games. He’s played nearly exclusively in left field for New Orleans.
From 2004 through ‘06 as a Marlin, Aguila hit .234 with three homers and 16 RBI in 218 at-bats.
