    Change Manager?

What do you think needs to be done?

Randolph is still coaching after a meeting with the big whigs.

Willie's OK. Problem here is, who in the hell is going to take his job?
I did a lot of good things as a sim league GM.

Ah, give me something clever to say here.

That would be awesome, nobody in MLB has the guts to do that though

    Re: Change Manager?

Mets need to change the roster so it appears no one's job is safe. Willie didn't do a lot at the end of last season to really change the course but this year has been on the players thus far. The GM has a lot of blame on him too.

I imagine LJ would embrace that idea.

    And then flush it.

I heard a rumor that the Mets may be interested in contacting Yankee Coach Tony Pena for the job.

I don't think any of these available guys are the right answer. I think the best idea would be Gary Carter....prior to his controversial comments. He's the kind of guy who could light a fire under this team without being too wild. Unfortunately, that probably won't happen now. I have a bad feeling about this team

    Re: Change Manager?

Has Gary Carter even been a coach at any level?? Buck Showalter knows what is like to be in NY and to manage in the NL. If I was GM, I would be looking for an OFer, 1B and some pitching instead of a replacement.

    Re: Change Manager?

Yes, Carter is a manager in the minors/independent league right now. He has an out in his contract, hence the controversial comments.

Buck Showalter was mediocre with the Yankees and the D-Backs. The teams got better after he left. Definitely not what I'm looking for.

The problem is that they didn't fire him after the collapse. If they let that go, they can't use that as their excuse to fire him now. Now they're stuck until at LEAST the all star break, but more likely the end of the season until they can make a move. It's just ugly.

    Re: Change Manager?

Good ol' Davey Johnson has won everywhere he managed, except with the Dodgers. I think most Mets fans would welcome him back as their savior.

    Re: Change Manager?

I think they would too, but I don't know if he still has the fire at age 65 to light a fire under this team's ass. I'd love to see it, but I don't think he's even interested.
