The Mets shouldn't have picked up his $7.5 mil option. When Alou is healthy, he hits for a good average but he missing so much time it's not worth it. Alou is 41 now and its a good thing the Mets got Ryan Church and Endy Chavez. The Mets could go after Kenny Lofton now.Moises Alou is expected to miss at least 4-6 weeks because of a hernia.
We doubt it will be four weeks. Given Alou's history, count on six and don't be surprised if it's eight. As things stand now, Endy Chavez will be penciled in as the replacement in left field. However, it seems very likely that the Mets will acquire another option before Opening Day.
