Alou is a good pick up at that price if he stayed healthy but he can't. He couldn't with the Giants and can't with the Mets. When healthy, he can some big hits.Mets exercised outfielder Moises Alou's $7.5 million club option for 2008.
It was a rather easy call, even though Alou was limited to 87 games in 2007 and has suffered substantial injuries three years running. Even at age 40, Alou was able to hit .341/.392/.524 last season. Remarkably, he's had an OPS between 916 and 923 four years running. The Mets will hope for 120 games and similar offensive production from him next year.
