That trade was the first one I made when I took over ATL and worked out really well for the both of us.

Marks, Winston and Smoot for CY Young

I can't lie. I'm still a little salty over Winston and Marks. I never wanted to let go of Opie, but my need of a TORP was real. Part of me didn't think he was going to develop fully, which is why I ended up pulling the trigger. When I saw that Marks boosted, I was definitely bitter. He outperformed Young for a few seasons. Smoot turned out to be what I thought he would. Loaded talent with inconsistent results.

Cy Young was my anchor for about 7 years. It's a shame I never had enough luck in the pitching department, otherwise he might be looking at more than one ring.

And to think, OM almost vetoed because he didn't think I was giving up enough.
