Tampa Bay Devil Rays
In an impressive 103 win season, a franchise record, the Devil Rays finished the 3rd best team in baseball with #1 pyth record (if you care about that sort of thing). This was just their 3rd trip to the World Series ever and first since their win over the Marlins in 2022. It was also a milestone year for the Rockies who topped the 100 win mark for the first time ever and made only their 2nd World Series appearance.
The Devil Rays came out swinging to kick off the series blowing out Colorado 11-2. Tampa's #2 offense in the league kept it up the whole series scoring at least 6 runs in every game and winning 3 games by 6 runs or more. Great pitching supposedly stops great hitting, but the Rockies #2 pitching staff couldn't seem to figure out the Rays batters as they went on to win 4-1 and take their 2nd ever World Series title.
