I don't like making the first offer unless I have to. If my asking if they have demands is a problem, tell me how to amend my asking so it better suits your needs. I will not be making the first offer though. If that means they say that and then I just don't engage them any further, so it goes.

It's really not a huge deal to give the first offer. Most of them don't say anything more than "slowly getting impatient" at first, and even that's not terribly common. The only ones that immediately don't talk are doing it for playing time and/or winning team reasons and that happens before you try anything.

I mean if you're asking about someone in here then you obviously want that person to stay on your team? At least for a certain amount? If you don't then you're definitely wasting both of our time.

If you only want a player at a specific amount but refuse to bring them back at anything higher then who cares if they stop talking? They either sign for what you prefer or they move on anyway.

Usually I'm open ended. Sometimes I don't want a player but the value is too good to pass up.

I guess what'll I do is say if they want an offer make an offer you feel you'd make if you were the GM of this team.
