Movie Pick 'Ems: Johnny Depp doing Johnny Depp things

Following a fun weekend of movies, we face a rather serious letdown in the form of a JLo version of Basic Instinct/Fatal Attraction, a George Lucas animated film I've never heard of ..and Johnny Depp channeling the physical comedy of Pirates of the Caribbean in ...Mortdecai. Given that the box office is crowded right now, I don't have much hope for these new films. Certainly no way it takes down American Sniper. So this week, you are to predict where Johnny Depp's new film Mortdecai winds up in the top ten. If it even does.

Mortdecai is described as an action comedy. Besides Depp, it stars Ewan McGregor, Gwyneth Paltrow, Olivia Munn, Tom Hardy, Aubrey Plaza, Paul Bettany and even Jeff Goldblum. That's not a cast you can't ignore in all seriousness. But Depp is in a major movie funk. His last few movies, Trascendence and The Lone Ranger were big time bombs and his fourth Pirates movie was a critical mess. I haven't even mentioned Dark Shadows. His luster appears to have dulled.

For this weekend, predict where Mortdecai finishes. Witloon can post the theatre count.

i saw mortdecai tonight. dont ask. nonetheless, it wasnt awful. ill never watch it again, but for more or less having my arm twisted... i got a couple laughs out of it.
