    It's easy to build a powerhouse when you're able to have an 180 million payroll when some of us are struggling with 60-70 million payrolls.

    I've tried everything thing in my power to figure out how that works and the only thing I can think of is the game has a built in mechanism to account for the fact that the real life Yankees have a financial advantage.

    Funny thing is Mach still managed to run out of free agency money.

    I do know they make much more money in merchandise income than everyone else and that feeds the main difference.

    What I can't figure out is what drives merchandise income.

    NYY fan loyalty is poor right now and they still rake it in.
