    2054 LA Dodgers

After starting off the season hot I tried to make the moves I did to get over the hump and to try and hide some clear deficiancies. The offense really sputtered and the rotation behind Jones, Mendez, and Ellis were big reasons for that. Here is the 2054 Los Angeles Dodgers...

    The starters:
    CA #9 Joe Torre
    1b #32 Dick Allen
    2b #3 Dale Murphy
    3b #69 Bertram Grover Weeks
    ss #3 Alan Trammell
    rf #10 Rusty Staub
    cf #97 Ben Chapman
    lf #0 Willie Mays Hayes

If Chapman fails in CF this year I may still take advantage of Murphy's flexibility and move him out there. The reason for Weeks at 3b is that even though he is a defensive butcher at that position, his bat is still a better overall fit for my stadium (and most in the NL West) than Mel Ott. Ott will see plenty of time as a defensive specialist late in games.

    The Bench:
    1 #96 Mel Ott
    2 #47 Michael Metzler
    3 #30 Steven Barnhill
    4 #4 Danny Rodriguez
    5 #96 Billy Goodman

Barnhill is a rookie trying to find his niche on this team as a backup infielder. Acquired in the ill fated Don Sutton deal, he was forgotten in AAA until I noticed he got upto 9 contact vs LHP and quite honestly I didn't like any other options as a backup MI (Free agent or in house). Mel Ott will probably spot 3b, rf, and lf (when I need to move Hayes to CF to rest Chapman. Metzler hopefully will be used as a pinch hitter, he seems to produce fairly well in that role. Rodriguez is the backup catcher and nothing more. Goodman serves as a defensive 9th inning sub all across the infield also.

    Rotation:
1 #82 Ricky Jones, Starting Pitcher
2 #2 Jose "Black Diamond" Mendez
    3 #19 Xavier Parra
    4 #23 Edward Botella
    5 #61 Robert Ellis

I haven't gone with a 5 man in a while, the only reason for 5 this year is that Ellis has been good during his entire contract, I'll probably go back to 4 if he doesn't live up to his previous seasons.

    Bullpen:
    CLOSER: #8 Deshawn Russell

    SETUP:
    #29 Nickolas Coon
    #38 Nicolas Suarez

    MIDDLE RELIEF:
    #51 Moshe Landers
    #55 Jesse Dearmond
    #66 Jimmy Forbes
    #80 Frank Crider

Still probably what should be one of the strongest parts of my team I feel very confident that when called upon my pen will be very successful.

    Most Likely Lineup:
    1 LF Hayes
    2 CF Chapman
    3 1b Allen
    4 2b Murphy
    5 RF Staub
    6 3b Weeks
    7 SS Trammell
    8 CA Torre

Torre's hitting 8th just based on career numbers, if Weeks cannot duplicate his 2053 year (in which I tried everything to get an AL Team to take him) then this probably gets turned around some.
