2048 divisional format changes/draft order change (please vote on the poll)

First and foremost, the draft order is going to change beginning the 2048 draft.

1-16 will be all non-playoff teams ordered from worst reg season record to best reg season record

Then 17-24 will be based on where you're eliminated in the playoffs.

17-20: LDS losers, from worst record to best record
21-22: LCS losers, worst record first
23: World Series loser
24: World Series winner

This part is not up for vote. It's how it's going to be. Missing the playoffs with a better record than a playoff team sucks, but it's part of the game and realistic. But this will help mitigate the hit that comes with that.

The part that is up for vote/debate is possible change to the current 6 division format. I'd like to move to a 4 division format with 8 playoff teams (4 per league). This would help minimize the possibility of an 81 win team making the playoffs while a 96 win team stays at home. It could still happen, but the chances are lower.

That being said, I'm going to leave that one up to a league wide vote.

With 4 divisions each league would send 2 division winners to the playoffs and the 2nd place team in both divisions. (I'd rather it be the two best records of the non division winners but that's not how the game works from what I understand...I'll post otherwise if I find out different when I get home)

I'm in favour of 4 simply for what I told Kingdom. Look at sports history. Any league with less than 26 teams has opted for the 4 divisions if 2 conference format. There's a good reason for that.

Just look at TSSL for division and playoff structure. It's not perfect either but it can help. I'll be curious to see what the divisions will then look like

I voted to keep it as is. I like the difference in leagues, but that's just my opinion . I have yet to run into the problem of missing out on the playoffs because of league structure.

I'm just afraid I'm going to have to do the same thing in a few seasons if a quarter of the league is open.

I say leave it as is... You already shuffled teams once because the NL West had 3 teams win 90+ games and 1 miss the playoffs... It's part of the game... Thats the fun of the game, to build rivalries and have to beat the teams in your division to make the playoffs...

My point is we just shuffled select teams because one division had 3 teams that were high caliber and one was constantly left out of the playoffs... Say we go to this new setup, how long until one division becomes "stacked" and another change is made? You can't have your cake and eat it to... There will always be good teams left out, it's part of the game...

Shifting to 4 divisions is less about responding to specific divisions and more about decreasing the odds by decreasing the number of division champions.
