Twins // Soxs 9-17 Read all.. Lets see what you think?

Twins win 5-0! Santana 13 k's gets his 14th win of the season. Morneau hit homer number 20. Jason Tyner gets 2 rbi's. I believe the Twins have some young hitters that may get a shot next year.

Here is a lineup I would like to see next year.

    c. Mauer
    1st Morneau
    2 Punto
    SS Castro
3rd Williams ( he has been out all year shoulder)
    lf stewart
CF Jones ( must be resigned!)
RF Hunter ( would be easy on him for health concerns)
    DH Kubel should be healthy.

    sp

    Santana
    baker
    Liarno
    Silva if healthy
    Radke or Bowyer

Look at the sp we would have. We would be dangerous.

the rest of the pen like this year maybe get i more lefty in the pen. Bowyer should make the team as well.

need to spend money. there is no reason for Polad to be such a business man it did not work! This team is supposed to be in the playoffs. The injuries hurt Hunter Silva Morneau to name a few. See I believe we have all the sp we need but we need to trade for hitters. I cant understand why we only went for Boone! It was an chance to inprove the team Boone struggled. So they should have got a bat we new it was needed as soon as Boone played.

Oh look at the article Hunter may be gone Twins may deal him!?? WTF! they are saying we could get two power hitters in place of Hunter. Article is on cbs sportsline. VIP section.

So Twins need to do alot this spring to get the team back and better than it is now. This team should be good enough to win it all with a move or two.

Good post. I'm not sure about Jones in CF. Hunter has been hurt how many times in his career? LIke twice? I wouldn't be too concerned about him having to move to right just yet. I'm far more concerned with his bat (or lackthereof) than worrying about another possible injury.

For me, the #1 offseason agenda item should be picking up a friggin' monster at DH. I'm so sick and tired of having Joe Nobody's playing DH for this squad over the years. You look at all of the AL teams that have gone to the WS in the past 20 years. How many of them had a big name guy at DH who was just as liable to crack one for 430 feet as he was to hit one to the warning track and knock in a run or two on a regular basis? That should be the #1 concern this offseason. The #2 concern should be running Scott Ulleger out of town and revoking his permit to hold a baseball bat ever again. We need a hitting coach as badly as we need a power DH.

Oddly enough, if #2 happened a few years ago, #1 wouldn't be a concern. Although the Twins have two options. Keep going as they are and try to get the hitting to compete with the Indians and ChiSox next year or shop off anyone old and try to grab some high-potential hitters. Which way is the best? The AL Central will be a beast soon as three teams are looking to be very good soon and all three can compete with the Twins.

regarding the #2 before #1 comment, you are right and I've been saying it for a couple of years. Ulleger completely sucks as the team BA every year he's been here has gotten worse.

Personally, I'd like to see them clean house from skipper on down. This season has been a huge disappointment and Santana fell victim to a LOT of crappy hitting performances in some of his losses. In the beginning of the year, he wasn't as dominant and he's had a couple of bad outtings, but overall, he's still a top 5 starting pitcher in the AL in my opinion, although you'd never know it based on his W-L totals.

Santana is quite arguably THE best pitcher in the AL this season, has IMO the best IP/ERA combination. He's easily Top 5 in the SP department, and I have to feel bad for pitchers who get screwed by their offense (except for Roger Clemens, he's had enough good offenses behind him).

Cleaning house may be a good idea, owner, manager, hitting coach. Just keep Ryan and the minor league pitching instructors, and the scout who found the guys for that Pierzynski trade.

Agreed. The scouts seem to be doing well and I don't know enough about the minor league coaches/managers, but we seem to always have a good farm system (and have for over 20 years), but we could use a house cleaning in the bigs, that's for sure.

Fisher, where do ya think that Johan will end up in the CY balloting? Obviously, I"m a homer and I'd love to see him at #1, but his W/L could really kill his chances, couldn't it?

he may win it. he has pitched well. should gave 2 more starts could be 16-7. The only guy I think that has a shot to win it is Colon of the Angles.

How about we work on a lineup? For 2006..

    Damn Vikes better win tomorrow.

The ALCY is so wide open this year. It isn't last year where you had Johan, then Schilling, then #3.

This year, from the rumblings I think it's Santana, Colon, or Rivera. Rivera may get it if none of the SPs jump into the high-2's in ERA and the Yankees make the playoffs on the back of a 4 inning relief appearence by Rivera on the last day of the season. I wouldn't be shocked to see Colon win it (funny note, there's a pitcher on his team with only 13 or so less IP and the same ERA, and you never hear his name.) if Colon can get a few more wins. If neither of those things happen, they may just have to defer to Santana who is the only pitcher with over 200 IP in the AL with an ERA that low. Harden and Halladay would be in the race if they didn't miss significant chunks of time and Millwood and Washburn would be with more innings and wins.

    My prediction
    1. Colon
    2. Santana
    3. Rivera

Although that could be formed in any fashion, and if Buehrle strings together some nice stats to keep a massive collapse from happening, he could get in there.

As for the Twins, I think Jones has to go. Personally, I'd rather see Lew Ford in center, and Hunter in right. And yes, DH is the biggest need. Maybe a healthy Kubel would fit in nicely there, because they're probably aren't going to be power hitting DH's on the market for less than cheap.

No, they won't be cheap, but that's the point... you get what you pay for and that tightass billionaire owner doesn't want to buy a good DH. I don't have enough faith in anyone in our system to take on that role.
