Bad enough the Twins lost two straight to the She-ca-go Whiney Sux, but to lose Carlos Silva out till the All-Star break is not very good. This is very dissapointing. He has a torn cartilege in his right knee. Who knows if he will recover even when he comes back? I have a feeling he will be out for the year. I thought it was a joke at first and then I read the Strib web site about his injury.

Dave Gassner was called up and he will be in the starting rotation as the fifth starter. Joe Mays is the fourth starter.

Carlos's injury makes the sense of urgency for Joe and Kyle to perform even stronger. If those two can't get it done, the Twins might be third or fourth in the division when all is said and done.
