Free Agent RA Dickey Signs with the Twins

After being offered more money by the Mariners. Here is a story:
HeraldNet: Dickey's decision: Better opportunity with the Twins
I don't see any real downside here. He has quite a bit of major league experience and would offer a "different" look out of the bullpen. Mauer and Redmond will have to get used to catching butterflies.

He owned the Twins when we were in Seattle too. Maybe he could be the setup guy to fill in while Neshek recovers from Tommy John surgery.

1st move of the winter other that resigning Punto. Maybe this will help the pen. We will have to wait and see though.

Dickey is one our best relievers. But hes not a setup guy. More of a middle relief/spot starter than anything.

Dickey walks too many people to be a reliable reliever.

    You would think that.

    As a reliever in 08: 2-0, 2.00 ERA, 36 IP, 26 H, 8 ER, 14 BB, 20 K's

He still has a 1.11 WHIP as a Reliever. And really, hes better as a long reliever than a starter. But he will never be a guy of a setup type ever.

I could see Dickey as a 6th or 7th inning guy, especially in a blow-out type of game. Give him the ball and let him throw a couple of innings.

I agree with you on that one Catman. Plus when hes a starter he doesn't have good enough stuff to keep afloat the 2nd or 3rd time around like Wakefield does.
