But hey, at least I don't have to watch the game anymore. It's far too painful to continue watching this greatly deserving loss.

It has gotten out of hand, but in my situation I do enjoy watching it till the end.

You will not like it when an opposing team does that exact thing to your team.

    Ah, the pleasure of pain.

Oh , I feel your pain. I have felt that pain on occasions this season. Mostly while the Sox are on the road.

Initially called a catch...but turns out Span trapped it.

It was the right call, he did trap it.

Re: Next up series in Boston!

He did trap it, but the double play the Sox got on the pop-up should not have been allowed. It should have been called an infield fly. The rule states "a fly that can be handled by an infielder with a normal effort". Lugo took a couple of steps back to let the ball drop and got an easy double play. I do not fault him, just as I don't fault Punto for his baserunning play. It took a good throw to put him out and Manny made one. He could just as easily have thrown the ball into the dugout.
I must give the Sox credit for playing well in this series. They made all the plays and the Twins didn't. Maybe the 2 teams can meet again in October?

I just saw the replay of that play. It is a trap that was easily noticeable. Red Sox got the break from it, fortunately.

Span probably was basically trying to fool the umps, I guess.

I hope the play was sent in to Selig for review. The Lugo play that is... Seems like Boston is the home for cheaters. We now have the Red Soxs added to the list with the Patriots being the number 1 team with the soxs as a close 2nd.

What was said about the LUgo play by the umpires is they did not rule it a infield fly rule because the ball in there opinions did not was not hit high enough in the air. Meaning it was more of a line drive bloop. I don't know because when the play happened I was away from the T.V., but that is the explanation I heard.

I saw it and Lugo could have easily caught the ball. He took a couple of steps back to let it drop. Yes it was a low pop-up, but it was still a play that he could have made with an ordinary effort.
Again, I do not fault him for making the play as he did, but the umpires blew that call.
