Gomez is a single away from hitting for the cycle tonight against rival Chicago White Sox.
He has a solo HR, a RBI-triple, and a RBI-double. I'd say that is a good night's work.

I was just about to post this.....way to go.
Anyway, he's obviously seeing the ball really well tonight, and he's got one at bat left, 2 if they can put some guys on base. It would be really cool to see this guy hit for the cycle.

Yeah, it is always fun to see a guy hit for the cycle!! It is exciting to watch, just like a no-hitter.
I believe that Gomez is due up 3rd this inning.
Gomez will lead off the top of the 9th.

Congrats to Gomez!!! Round of applause!!
He did it in reverse natural order too: HR, 3B, 2B, 1B. Nice.
First Twin since KP in 1986 to hit for the cycle.

Hey DirtyKash, good observation. That is cool!!! It doesn't usually happen like that.
Random cycle stats
- There have been six cycles in which the home run was a grand slam. This happened five times in the American League and once in the National League
- On June 3, 1932, Tony Lazzeri became the only player in major league history to accomplish both feats listed above: hitting a natural cycle and ending it with a grand slam. This is often overlooked because Lazzeri did it in the same game that teammate Lou Gehrig hit four home runs.
- No player has ever hit a "homer cycle", consisting of a solo home run, a two-run home run, a three-run home run, and a grand slam.
- No player has ever hit for the cycle and hit four home runs in the same game. The player to come closest was Shawn Green, who went six-for-six on May 23, 2002, hitting four home runs, a single and a double, missing only the triple.
Wow. Congratulations to Carlos Gomez. This guy was my boy last year when he played in Flushing. I wish him the best of luck
Twins bat around in the 9th and Gomez gets another at bat and
he strikes out to end the inning.
