Does Gardy commit to him as a starter like he did with Ponson and Ortiz last season? Does he even make the team?

He will right away, just for the fact that he hasn't pitched in the AL besides inter-league games. I do worry, however, that he will be a bust like the guys you mentioned above. If that is the case, that will give one of the younger guys a chance who are competing for a starting spot now.

Don't let the fear of striking out keep you from playing the game.
Were stuck with him. I dont see us letting him go. We need the vet to help with the rookie pitchers..
KBSL - Atlanta Hawks
Arizona gm - MSL
The Twins need him out there to eat innings and take some pressure off the bullpen which will be overworked due to so much youth in the rotation.
or if everyone throws a near no-no like baker did last year, we'll be ok without him.

3-0 for Big Bad Livan! Say it ain't so.
A solid outing for Livan tonight. 7 innings pitched, 1 run given up and only 75 pitches thrown! Well done, hopefully this is the turnaround he needs.

I say he is the perfect replacement for Wang in the Yankee rotation
