Twins are after Mike Piazza

MLB Rumors - Minnesota Twins Twins pursue Piazza

The Minnesota Twins won't comment, but a little birdie says they still are trying to acquire right-handed designated hitter Mike Piazza from the Oakland Athletics even though Piazza says he prefers playing on either coast. Twins general manager Terry Ryan is working hard with several clubs to make a waiver deal.

Inside the Twins clubhouse, players remain skeptical. Piazza has a gentleman's agreement with GM Billy Beane that will keep Oakland from trading him against his will, and Twins insiders keep hearing Piazza doesn't want to play in Minnesota.

Well, he could be talked into coming by a couple of players currently on the team -- Johan Santana and Torii Hunter. I'd like to see him in a Twins' uniform.
