ESPN's Chris Singleton reports that the Brewers have acquired Jerry Hairston from the Nationals.
It's interesting that Singleton, a former player and current ESPN analyst, scooped the news before any of the big names, but Hairston would jibe with reports that the Brewers were looking for someone that could play in the infield and the outfield. CBS Sports' Scott Miller reports that the Nationals will receive outfield prospect Erik Komatsu in return. Hairston, who is batting .268/.342/.385 in 75 games this season, will be used in a utility role but figures to play a lot of shortstop and help out at second base while Rickie Weeks is out.
