MILWAUKEE (AP)—The Milwaukee Brewers have signed outfielder Corey Hart(notes) to a contract extension through the 2013 season.
Hart, who has been the subject of frequent trade speculation in recent weeks, now appears to have a long-term future with the Brewers. After a disappointing spring training performance that put his starting spot in jeopardy, he rebounded to make the All-Star team.
The 28-year-old Hart is batting .288 with 23 home runs and 72 RBIs in 92 games this season. General manager Doug Melvin says Hart has earned the new deal.
One positive step!
