I guess this is a good contract for the Marlins just because it's only two year and they really don't have anyone in the minors to step up. He's getting a $1.5 million dollar raise over this past season which I can't really justify but it's not going to hurt the Marlins any. They have one less hole to fill this offseason where it's rumored they will be big spenders.According to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel, Omar Infante's new two-year deal is worth around $8 million.
Exact terms should be revealed soon after the infielder takes a physical on Tuesday afternoon. Infante is batting just .279/.317/.385 in 146 games played this year, but he's provided a major upgrade defensively at second base and should remain a productive all-around second baseman over the course of the new two-year contract.
