Nolasco has been predictably inconsistent season by season. In 2006, he was mediocre with a 4.80 ERA and a monstrously ugly WHIP. In 2008, he was good, he posted 3.52 ERA, 15 wins in 212 innings. And then in 2009, he racked up a 5 plus ERA in route to a pretty forgettable season. He got off to a terrible start, and ultimately never recovered.
The marlins rotation hinges on Josh Johnson, and anyone outside of Josh Johnson. It is possible that Anibal Sanchez could return to form. It's likely that Volstad and Vandenhurk will never be anything more than they have been. And they're still waiting on Andrew Miller. Nolasco might have the best chance to provide Johnson with back up in the rotation. So will he have a good year, or another mediocre year?
