    Marlins Maybin Sent Down

The Marlins have reportedly sent Cameron Maybin down to Triple-A New Orleans.
Not that Maybin has been any good this year, but it's remarkable that the Marlins seem to favor Emilio Bonifacio so much more, especially since Bonifacio has been even worse lately. The Marlins have even chosen to replace Maybin with an infielder when Chris Coghlan would have made a lot more sense at third base.
This was the right move. Maybin was beyond struggling at the big league level and hurting the offense. No sense of keeping him up. He is actually being replaced by Cody Ross in CF with Coghlan playing LF. Noe Gonzalez has no excuse to bay Maybin and his horrible OBP in the to hole.

    Re: Maybin Sent Down

Maybin was just rushed. He is only 22 and he really needs some time at AAA to work on pitch recognition as the talent is there, the capability to hit at this level however hasn't yet developed.

And I get keeping Bonifacio, who gives the Marlins a lot more position depth than Maybin does (not to mention Maybe looks like a deer caught in the headlights of late.)

Andrew Miller was awful before being placed on the DL, and Maybin has yet to learn how to hit at this level. I understand Loria was never going to pay the money that franchise player Miguel Cabrera commanded, but that trade is not looking like it will net the Marlins a quality player to build around.

It sure is looking like a terrible trade now. Miller and Maybin are young enough to turn things around though.
