Not only did clemens have extra motivation, but i think the whole team did. They wanted to win this one for the rocket. He said a while back "I don't want to speak to two empty chairs at my induction cerimony." refering to his stepfather who died when he was young and his mother. Now he's going to have to work in her memory and he has a history of being a workhorse.

But clearly the team was out there to win this one for rocket...i mean, when was the last time the stros scored ten runs...period?? let alone in a rocket start.

Extra motivation, huh? I don't. He's in the pennant race anyway, that's all the motivation he needs. The people that had extra motivation were the Astros offense, they put up 7 runs on Florida's B relievers(Ron Villone, Chris Resop, Randy Messanger) to put the game away and give Rocket a win. I don't think it's any more special than any pennant race game that Clemens has ever pitched in, but for his friends/teammates, it was something they wanted to do for Roger.

Roger Clemens needs no more motivation than what hes already got to go out there and just simply dominant. His mother's death just made it even tougher for the Marlins, but when Rocket pitches for the Astros you got to believe they feel they are going to win every game cause they know when Rogers on they gotta get 1 run and its in the bag.

It is amazing that inspite of his age (43) and everyone saying he couldnt do it, hes blown away everyone when it comes to pitching by .54 ERA. It will be a shame if he isnt among the top 2 for Cy Young because his team wouldnt know home plate if they are standing on it when he pitches.

The oddest injury happened when Gabe Kapler got injured after a homerun hit by Tony Graffinino to put them up 3-2

``He's tremendous. He's a great 10th man off the bench,'' David Wells said. ``He comes to play every day. He's like Charlie Hustle. The guy goes after it with no fear. To lose him is crushing. I've never in my 18 years seen a guy blow it out at second base on a home run.''

I got to sell this that honor goes to former Tampa Bay pitcher Tony Saunders, who broke his arm not once but twice pitching in about 14 months (May 26, 1999) and again August 24th, 2000.

Yeah it is, to tell the truth, you couldn't even tell that he ruptured his achilles, that's the strange part. He just looked like he tweaked his ankle rounding the base. Scary how easy it is to hurt yourself.

Sell. His injury being odd? i don't think so. The circumstances of the injury? I don't find it so odd, i mean, it says it in the rule book.

"if an accident to a runner is such as to prevent him from proceeding to a base to which he is entitled, as on a home run hit out of the playing field, or an award of one or more bases, a substitute runner shall be permitted to complete the play."

This happened with Orlando Hudson (2b of the jays) a while back. It took him 58 seconds to round the bases after he strained his hammy.

Whats so ironic is that BOTH incidents happened at the Jay's stadium. Maybe they should be looking at that turf.

As for the most oddest injury in baseball, it would probably be anything sammy. 15 day dl for sne[MUTE] Who cares about Sammy Sosa....P

I'll buy that they'll make the playoffs, too many young arms on the Oakland plus Harden's status is unknown. The Angels still have the most exciting player in baseball(Vlad) and a top ten bullpen, with in my opinion, the best 1-2-3 bunch in the game to end it. As for making it past the division series, it depends who they draw, I think they'd beat Chicago, but lose the Yankees or Boston.
