    A.L. Race:

    Gustavo Chacin
His middle name is Adolfo and his delivery is funky. He has 12 wins, a 1.38 WHIP and a 3.65 ERA which are all very solid for a little hyped rookie pitcher. He's certainly been a strong compliment to Halladay, when he was healthy. Little attention may cost him.

    Huston Street
About the time the A's went from scrapheap to contender, is about the time Street became the closer. And he's made everyone forget the tragedy that was Octavio Dotel. He's only given up 2 home runs for the season, and has 18 saves. Possibly the lowish total of saves keeps him from winning.

    Joe Blanton
Enjoys the life of little run support. Has a stronger ERA and WHIP than Chacin. Does not have as many wins, in fact is only 8-11. His record shouldn't have much bearring on whether he wins or not. He, like Chacin, don't strike many people out. A couple of runs here and there, and he too would have 12 wins, like Chacin.

33 steals and a .292 average and the fact he has played all year on a team who is in the hunt is all you need to know. Tavares has brought speed to a team that had little else. And he has played a good CF. Realmofotalk is right about the OPS. Willie has played all year and to compare them to people with 200 less abs is absurd. If you really want to give it to someone who hasn't played a lot, give it Ryan Howard.

I just hate considering Asian imports. They have so much pro experience overseas, it's just different compared to a guy like Street who spends a little time in the minors before being thrusted into the spotlight.

Swisher was on a roll till he went on the bereavement list. He hasn't really been the same since.

Hell why didn't Noah Lowry get mentioned last year since he went 6-0 in two months of work?

Cause they played all year and did extremely well as has Tavares. And no, I'm not comparing seasons or players.

Lowry didn't make an impact like Francoeur did. What was his other stats along with his record? Some voters will look at the ABs, and factor them in. Some will look at Taveras' OBP and see it's as good as ..Jeremy Reed's.

All I'm saying is Francoeur is the man, ROY or not. I hope we sign him to a 20 year contract.

Lowry didn't have an impact? Excuse me but you must have a short memory span. Lowry was a key part to the Giants run last year where they lost their playoff chances on the LAST DAY of the year. Hopefully voters won't just look at Tavares' OBP and look at how he has impacted a shitty offense. And the fact the he has over 500 abs should make him a sure thing.

And what were his stats? Being 6-0 doesn't impress me much if his ERA, WHIP, walks were high. And having a shotty OBP and you're the lead off man is never a positive.

They shouldn't give ROY awards to mediocre players.

Mediocre It's his first year and he is top five in steals and has a .292 average. Hardly mediocre. Lowry's ERA was 3.86 but you were talking "impact" which proves you have a worse memory than a pothead.
