Thread: Stupidest suspension ever?

    Stupidest suspension ever?

Florida Marlins bat boy gets 6 game suspension for accepting a 500 dollar bet with Brad Penny. Brad Penny said he would give the bat boy 500 dollars if he could chug a gallon of milk in an hour (this is physically impossible btw). I wonder what Selig was thinking. 6 GAMES FOR A BAT BOY IS STUPID.

Just goes to show you that MLB is truely clueless about what the fans and what many of the players feel. Do they really want to send a msg that drinking milk is worse than fighting? I mean come on common sense people, oh wait its Bud Selig we are talking about... He wouldnt know common sense if it hit him in the head with a Louisville Slugger.

It wasn't Bud Selig who suspended the batboy. It was the Marlins.

P.S. I can drink one gallon of low-fat milk (2%) in about 30 minutes.

Lions WR Charles Rogers should ask Brad Penny to be his nutritionist.

Hypocritical MLB. Palmeiro gets 10 days for steroids and he gets 6 days for drinking milk! Amazing.

Baseball can step in. They haven't yet... hypocrites until proven otherwise.

How can they step in? It's their team and they can suspend someone if they want to. Are you saying the kid should be able to appeal the suspension and have a hearing with MLB?

Yeah I am. If players can appeal who have been proven to have used steroids can appeal, then someone affiliated with teams should be able to appeal suspensions too, especially ridiculous ones like this one. I don't really care if you agree or not.

I'm not saying the suspension isn't stupid, but players only can appeal because they're in a union...I don't think there is a ball boy and bat boy union, so they have no legal recourse

I don't care if they're in a union. He can hire an attorney and challenge the team's ruling. I bet even the pressure of fighting the issue would get the team to re-think its position.
