I read they really wanted to move him to St. Louis because of their abundance of Quality Pitching prospects..
I don't know what scares me more as a reds fan.... Stanton as a Card, or the abundance of Quality pitching in the St. Louis Minors...
I mean, yeah, I know Betances was bad for a good portion of the season and was completely useless in the playoffs but he's proven that he can be a really good arm out of the bullpen. Unless an offer for Betances comes along that just completely blows Cashman away, I doubt he moves him and I would be okay with that. Also been rumored to head up to Boston. I wouldn't be surprised at all if Dombrowski gave up everything in that farm to take on Stanton and that contract. I know Stanton is legit and I wouldn't be thrilled if he ended up in Boston but honestly, even if he does, I wouldn't think that automatically makes them World Series contenders like some people do. He will continue to produce but I don't think he'll produce again like he did this year.

Star prospect Kevin Maitan is one of 12 Atlanta Braves minor leaguers expected to be declared a free agent after league investigation. In addition, Braves will suffer significant restrictions in 2019-20 and 2020-21 international FA classes.
Basically, they broke international signing rules by overpaying lesser prospects on paper but having them give the overpayment under the table to the better prospects like Maitan.

Somehow the Giants are the favorites to get Stanton with a shit package of Joe Panik, Tyler Beede, and Chris Shaw. I mean, the Dodgers gave up more than that to get Adrian Gonzalez and the corpses of Carl Crawford, Josh Beckett, and Nick Punto.
