On the other hand, if Steven Matz keeps it up, he could make Niese expendable in a trade...which would not exactly be exciting. But it's either him, Blowsinger, or a bullpen game.
Niese has been available since Spring Training. He's pretty solid, tbh, and I doubt wend demand tooooo much.

Looks like they will have to replace Alex Gordon, he did a number on his groin last night running after a fly ball against the Rays. I'm going to be a homer and keep my fingers crossed that Kevin Kiermaier gets consideration.
im fairly certain brett gardner was named gordons replacement. they announced before the game that gardner was named to the all star game... and since last i saw, he was in 4th in the last player vote, i have to assume it was as gordons replacement.

Yea, I saw that the slot went to Gardner later in the day. I don't really get as fussy about the selections as you boys do sometimes. Brett is as deserving as anybody else.

After watching a lot of Jarrod Dyson filling in for the injured Gordon during the Rays series, I agree with mofo in that thread, it's a shame he didn't get voted onto the team.

But I'm sure Cashner is the awesome teammate he's been made out to be.The cumulative effect has been Yasmani being selected to his first All-Star game after two disappointing seasons in San Diego, all the while batting clean-up for a first-place team.

was the home run derby like this last year too? the whole 4 minutes stuff? im not sure i hate it persay... though realistically, im pretty sure only 12 people on the planet still watch the home run derby, so meh.
