As a Jays fan, I like this. Like it a lot. You're gonna get those teams at about 87-90 wins get the extra shot. That's 7 more wins than the 80 we got last year. Very achievable, but also dependant on a lot of different things.

2003 Hybrid World Champion (115-47 reg season, 11-4 playoffs)
TBL: Anaheim Angels 2006-present (238-244 regular season, 1 division title)
MSL: St Louis Cardinals 2013-present (2734-2936 regular season, 5 division titles, 2 championships)
TSSL: Seattle Mariners 2006-2029, Pittsburgh Pirates 2030-present (209-277, 5 division titles w/SEA, 1 championship w/SEA)
Thankfully no one in power shares your views in watering down the sport.
its either leave it where it is now or go to 6.
The 1 game playoff is a copout in my opinion.

I don't like this stupid one game your in format, either make it with even teams or leave it, having odd number of teams is retarded.
8 teams makes the most sense to me. Best of 5 in Rounds 1 and 2, Best of 7 in CS and WS. Makes perfect sense.
I'm also anti-bye, it rests players but it can also make them lose their effectiveness. Can you imagine the Phillies having to throw Halladay in a meaningless game on the last day of the season to set him up for his Game one Division Series start?
8 teams from each league makes the most sense?
Yeah, it does. You can't go six without a bye. If you're expanding, add a week and make everyone play.
The thought of teams with losing records making the playoffs makes me sick. What makes me even more sick is thinking it makes sense to have that many teams in the playoffs, watering it down to almost nothing. Look at the NBA, gross.
It would certainly help the TV audiences for TBS and ESPN showing Indians-White Sox games in September though.
I'd like to personally note, that I think it's fine the way it was. Except for home field for the All Star game. Still hate that.
TBS and ESPN can pick and choose what games they want that late so it shouldn't matter. Pick the best matchups
I thought it was perfect the way it was but adding up to 8 teams is just overkill.
It appears the expanded playoffs will start next season (2013). The schedules and travel plans are already in place.
As to the 1-game play off, I don't like it. One game really doesn't get it done for me.

Just announced on MLB Network that it appears I misspoke. The expansion may start this season.
Sorry for the confusion on my part.

Yay! Another Wild Card created for the Red Sox.
According to what's trickling out of camps the players are in favor of the added WC, I was on board until the 1 game play-off decision. I guess any team that has struggled to get in is happy to at least an additional shot no matter how they make it. Some players could just be all aboard not wanting to piss off the commisioner's office anymore then it is right now. For fans it's just going to be one of those things we'll have to get used to or debate til the end of time like the 6 divisions or the DH. MLB is going to do what they want to do if they think it will get them more revenue.
