As Tom Hanks in Saving Private Ryan would say "Earn this...earn it"

This is awesome. This is very entraining to watch and what a fun way to close out this season. It all comes down to this!! I just wish Boston was sending Lackey to the mound..

After the years of basically (excuse my crudeness) sucking hind tit from the Yanks and Sox this is exactly what the Rays have strived for the past 4 seasons. Took a bit of a step back in 2009 but have been right in the mix otherwise after all those seasons of being out of it by June. When the best we could hope for was to spoil, which I remember very well knocking the Sox out in 1999. Most of our highlights of fight, grit and scrappiness were individual events like the Pedro brawl and the Smith punch out of Posada at the plate in 2000 to actually standing up to these big boys as a team and slapping, kicking and punching their way into a threesome.

Right now I wouldn't want to be Joe Girardi, trying to give some guys a rest, but keeping the momentum going and not letting guys just sit idle while not rolling over and making the Rays as has been said "earn it".

Whichever AL or NL team gets the WC spot they certainly have earned this year. Though I will say IF the Sox triumph I hope Lackey gets crucified by the media and opposing fans in every start.

Goddamn this has been an exciting night of baseball. I was catching the games in between Catching Hell on ESPN and now the Cards have come back down from 5-0 to take the lead 8-6. Rays win and Red Sox are trying their best to blow it in the 9th!!!!!!!!!!!

Cardinals take a huge lead 12-6 in the 8th, both wild cards going down to last game (or two).

Very disappointed in David Price tonight. Did not have it and threw the worst 3-2 with the bases loaded I have seen all year. Cards had a monster first inning with Pujols getting a hit and RBI. He's close to .300/30/100

I knew Cory Wade could be counted on to give up the game-tying HR.

Kind of ironic considering he was in Durham most of the season as was Johnson.
