Who called A-Rod a traitor? (I'm actually asking, not a rhetorical question.)

It's not even about that. It's about Americans being so arrogant that they can't believe another country could come close to competing with them.

Who was floating this notion? American's are not arrogant. We're very proud, in the same way that you're proud of your Dad for being a real good guy. Not like prideful arrogance.

I wished we had this passion for the NBA players that dont want to go play for the olympic team.

As Fishercat pointed out, this is a little differnent. This would be a little like Aaron Miles going to the Olympics last year for Greece because his ancestors were Greek, except no one cared because, A.) He's Aaron Miles, and B.)No US to play for, C.)Greece doesn't have real baseball players lol.

That is because America was rooting against the Dream Team. Don't you remember? The media called them a bunch of thugs, LOL. LOL, ESPN kept saying how they should have picked those white boys (Ridnour, Korver) instead of those "thugs." I will always hate ESPN for how they treated the dream team.

That team was horribly put together, horribly run and just played like crap. US should have won the Olympics, but we suck at getting a good team. Argentina (I believe they won it) deserved it for actually putting together a TEAM. Redd, Allen, Korver, Ridnour (Note: not all white) would have made a huge difference. I don't recall ESPN actually refering to the team as a bunch of "thugs", but they were correct in saying they did a bad job of picking players.

It's not even about that. It's about Americans being so arrogant that they can't believe another country could come close to competing with them.

The other countries shouldn't have been competing with America, and that did hit us that this sport we have dominated we can actually lose in when we screw things up. The one thing I liked least about that was that there were people openly rooting against the team. That was wrong.

Well, about the dream team, you could put together a REAL team of NBA players and I still don't think they would regularly blow out the best International teams. They may win by a close margin, but it won't be like it was in 1992.

That was after his comments saying he was playing for the DR, he later learned it was in Bud'shands so now he has to kiss up to Bud.

We've seen what happens to athletes when they speak what is truly on their mind. The media eats them alive. It's best for A-Rod to stay hush hush and continue with his perfect pretty boy image.

I've learned a lot about the loyalty, patriotism and convictions (or lack thereof in each case) of guys like nyjunc, Porter, McKain, and ATLein just by hearing the choices you'd hypothetically make.

I was born and mostly raised in Canada before I moved to the United States, and I still hold citizenship there.

It'd be a little hard to judge my "loyalty, patriotism and convitions" without that tidbit of knowledge, so I'm just pointing it out. I'd always like to help people's grossly ignorant opinions become slightly less ignorant.
