American League DH; a bye bye?

Sitting in my living room watching Hot Stove, Jon Heyman talked about the Bud Selig panel made up of several names in baseball discussing the possibility of dropping the DH.

    Anyone else hear about this?

This would change baseball in a big way. Surely the player's union will fight it to the death. This would mean a lot of players will no longer be able to prolong their career in the AL. With the lack of HOF and MVP voting support, is the consensus that the DH simply isn't pure enough and it ruins the game?

We'll see what they come up with.

I recall that the panel would be explicitly NOT discussing the DH rule.

This would be a terrible idea. I like the idea of the DH. Players already break down very quickly now a days, and it's nice to have the option to see your favorite players play a few more years as a DH. Plus I like how it adds a bit of difference between the two leagues. I definitely like it.

    Also, pitchers suck at hitting.

That video doesn't show where Maddux and Glavine use STEROIDS and SHOULD BE SCOURGED FROM THE EARTH FOR THEIR TRANSGRESSIONS.

    Haha Saber,

I wonder when they are going to start holding pitchers accountable to their lack of hitting skills. Some may be a bit serious about it, but far too few even worry about it at all. Yet, it would help their team immensely if they would put forth the effort.

Perhaps this is the first step?

I agree with all your thoughts though. Having a DH makes both leagues unique. I like seeing superstars ending their careers in this fashion as long as they aren't looking too awful doing it.

I'd either add it to both leagues or just get rid of it. I've never liked how it made the leagues different.

The sad thing is it would likely be added to the NL before it would ever be dropped in the AL. Think about little league...the best athletes pitched and were the best hitters....when do they lose it?

There shouldn't be a DH in any baseball anywhere.

Yes. It is nice to have an option that allows the AL to always have dominant hitting over the NL.

I'd love it too if I were a fan of an AL team.
